What is NUTOFA

A SACCO for tractor people and farmers.

We are a savings and credit cooperative based in Gulu, registered under Uganda’s Co-operative Societies Act in 2022 and licensed as a Tier 4 SACCO. Our members are tractor owners, operators, mechanics, dealers, and the smallholder farmers who use them.

We save together, we borrow against our savings, and we run a tractor service centre at Lakang in Amuru. We work across Acholi, Lango, Karamoja and West Nile.

What we do

Mechanization

Tractor and implement hire from the regional centres. Land opening, ploughing, harrowing, ridging, threshing.

Savings and loans

Compulsory and voluntary savings. Five loan products. A loan ceiling of three times your savings.

Training

Operator certification, mechanic refresher cycles, and tractor-as-a-business courses run through the hub.

Equipment sales

We broker tractor and implement purchases through vetted dealers and arrange structured asset finance.

Market linkage

Bulking, off-take agreements and pricing support. We help members sell at fair rates, not at the gate.

Welfare

Emergency credit for medical, school fees and bereavement. Group-based social protection for paid-up members.

The Lakang centre

A mechanization service centre, owned by the SACCO.

The Lakang centre sits on ten acres in Amuru District, donated to the cooperative. We are building it into a year-round centre for tractors, implements, threshing, drying and storage.

Revenue from contract services pays operators, maintains the fleet, and is shared back to members as dividends.

Newest milestone · June 2026

A new tractor and implement fleet, handed over.

On 19 June 2026 the cooperative received three Kubota diesel tractors and a full set of implements from the Microfinance Support Centre, under the Government of Uganda mechanization support. A second handover follows at the Anaka office in Nwoya.
